MAD Blog awards.... my night

Well Friday saw the awards ceremony for the MAD Blog Awards and I was proud to be a finalist in the Best Baby Blog Category along with 4 other great blogs.

I was given a gorgeous outfit to wear for the event from Simply Be and I have to say I felt really happy with my look (makeup was courtesy of the lovely Doing it all for Aleyna as I loved hers so much!)

I went for the glam look and why not!?

My category was up first and I sat alongside the gorgeous Jennie from Edspire who was also in my category. Although we didn't win (I never for one moment thought I would if I am honest) it was a pleasure to finally meet Jennie in person - she was as lovely as she appears on Twitter.

I was really pleased when Claire from A Boy with Aspergers was announced as the winner in the most inspirational category and as she was sat next to me at the time it was evident out amazed she was to hear her name - well done lovely!

and the winner is....

I enjoyed the rest of the evening that was spent getting to know fellow bloggers, enjoying lovely nibbles and indulging in the odd glass of wine and not forgetting the karaoke (well it was held in the Talk Talk offices).

After the event a few of us ladies grabbed a cab and headed of into London for a few drinks. We sat outside (in short sleeves as September became October) enjoying the warm weather and good company before we headed for some sleep (ok ok S.A.M and I sat talking and drinking til 4am)

For the return to home I ended up juggling a closure on the tube and braving them alone with a part closure and sudden change in route but I did it, finding myself running down the platform to my awaiting train home to Shropshire. I travelled there and home with the lovely Heather and I was so glad to plonk myself next to her on the train after convincing myself I was going to miss it.

All in all a great night spent with some truly lovely people. My special thanks go to Sally Whittle for making the evening possible. I leave you with some photo's and my thanks for anyone that voted for me in the awards themselves.

MAD Blog Awards finalists video

Just wanted to share this video of some of the finalists for this years MAD Blog Awards that will be announced in September - It also describes a little about each blog featured... I am proud to be number 40 of 56...

Voting has now closed and I have my fingers crossed for the announcements that will be made at a ceremony in late September. I am nominated in the Best MAD Baby Blog Category (still have to say it twice to believe it!)

And so the end is near....

The MAD Blog Awards voting ends tonight at 9pm - Eek!!

I was so surprised and thrilled to be a finalist in the Best MAD Baby Blog category and I just wanted to say a big thank you to anyone that nominated me and also to those who have taken the time to vote for Bloggomy since the voting started.

Although I doubt very much I will win I know I have given it my best shot. I managed to make our local papers (very small article with no URL to vote but hey!) and I have had some lovely comments and messages of support along the way which I have found very touching.

So now with 9 hours left til voting ends it just leaves me to say if you haven't voted for my blog and fancy it (you don't have to vote in every category if you don't want to either) the link to vote is here. The Best Baby Blog category is the last one on the list and it is so easy to vote with a pull down menu to select from. Just need to add you name and email address at the top of the form and that's it.

As you only get one chance to vote, why not have at a look at the other categories - the finalists are listed here.

The final furlong.....

So the voting ends this Friday at 9pm (GMT) for the MAD Blog Awards

I am thrilled to be a finalist in the Best MAD Baby Blog category. So with that in mind I thought I would share my 'please vote' vlog with you. It took me 5 hours to make it so Steven Spielberg your job is safe!!

Here I am - A swinger and a closet blogger !!

As you are probably fed up of hearing, I am a finalist in this years MAD Blog awards which I am pretty chuffed about to say the least.

With this being an award that is decided by votes (yes I would love some I won't lie about that!) it obviously comes with promotion from the lovely award sponsors. As I have stated before my blog has appeared in my local paper but this brings me to a little known fact about me...... I have only told 2 friends and my husband and children that I blog!!! I am a closet blogger!!!

With this in mind I started to look at my blog as others that do not know me would and realised something was missing from it - ME!

Apart from one very tiny photo of me in my blog logo, and you have to search for that, there are no photo's of me at all here. I am always the photo taker, the video maker and the thought behind the camera but never in front. With CyberMummy 2011 conference only 2 weekends away I am worried no-one will know who 'that lady' is and 'what blog does she write?'

So whilst out with the children the other day I decided to let 'Pre-teen' be the one to take the photo and so you all know what I look like - here I am ! (please be kind!)

No not that sort of swinger - this sort!!

It takes a lot for me to put a photo of myself into the public arena, so to speak, and as I type these words already I keep glancing to the photo and finding faults - my hair is a mess, do I look OK and a load more hangups that I can find.

Halfway there.....

I can't believe it is 2 weeks ago that I found out I was a finalist in this years MADS best blog awards.

I am shortlisted with 4 other great Baby blogs and I have to say the whole 75 finalists this year make a very impressive line-up. See them all here.

So with 2 weeks down in the 4 week voting period I have to say it has zoomed by. I have had a small article in a local paper published although sadly they forgot my blog name - it's Bloggomy!! My URL or even the category I am nominated in - Best MAD Baby Blog, but hey it's my first time in the papers so I am proud to see my name in print - yes they managed to get that in, thankfully!

So with 2 weeks to go and if you are yet to vote - please spare a thought for a poor blogger that's blog is anonymous in her paper and has a love of using exclamation marks!! - I would be fair chuffed!

Today I cried - I'm a finalist!!

There I was tweeting away when I got a tweet saying congratulations!? I am so proud and shocked to say I am a finalist in the Mad Blog Awards.

My blog is a finalist in the Best Mad Baby Blog Award along with 4 other great blogs. To be honest when I read the news on the Mads website I cried - silly though that may seem. Blogging is still new to me (Bloggomy is 6 months old) and I am still amazed anyone is remotely interested in anything I have to say let alone enough to nominate me.

I would like to say a honest and heartfelt thanks so much to anyone that nominated my blog - sorry I sound like I have won a BAFTA! - but to me this is such a big thing and I am thrilled. I also send a huge congratulations to all finalists.

I've been nominated for a MAD Blog award 2011

Wow! Thanks so much for the nominations for the MAD Awards 2011. I am so proud to see my blog up there with some of the fantastic blogs I read.

I am absolutely thrilled (and to be honest shocked) to be nominated in three catergories which are Best MAD Baby Blog, Blogger of the Year, and Best MAD Blog Post of the Year!

What can I say - to be shortlisted for any but especially Best MAD Baby Blog would be such as honour.

My blog began as a way of having a 'cyber' diary so to speak of Tala's life as I began it just after he was born in October 2010, but it has evolved and grown in different directions from reviews (which I love) to rants (well we all have them!) to a place where I can share photo's and events of my life with my family, friends and all you other lovelies.

Mad Blog Awards 2011

Compared to many blogs I am a newbie! I started my blog in October 2010 just after the birth of Tala as a way of keeping a 'cyber' milestone of his life that I could add to whenever I wanted and upload photo's of things along the way.

Since starting my blog on my friend Wendy's advice I have to say thanks so much! Blogging has become my outlet, my voice, at times my addiction and certainly my joy.

I love to see Tala grow and be able to look back at the last 6 months since my blog started and see how I also have grown. I have also been lucky enough to be able to review some fantastic products along the way and I try to review in a practical way and always honestly.

If you like what I do (and I hope you do!) nominations have begun for The Mad Blog Awards 2011. There are such fabulous blogs and bloggers out there and these awards are a great way of showing your favourite reads.
