Jackson Reece Baby Wipes review (December 2010)

Ask anyone that knows me and they will tell you I love my 'eco' 'natural' and environmentally friendly products - especially when it comes to my baby.

I was asked to try and review a wipe that I hadn't heard of before Jackson Reece Herbal baby wipes.

When the product arrived I was surprised to find that this wipe has already won a Gold award for the best Baby Wipes 2010/2011 in the Mother & Baby Awards.

I switched my usual 'green' baby wipe to the new wipes and straight away I was very impressed with the opening to the packet. Instead of the usual sticky pull across opening on traditional  packets, the Jackson Reece wipes had a lift up thin plastic cover which was far more sturdy and was easy to open with one hand - an essential requirement with a wriggling baby!

The wipes were free from Alcohol , Parabens, Sodium Lauryl Sulfate (SLS) & Sodium Laureth Sulfate (SLES)  as well as Lanolin free and the Jackson Reece website (www.jacksonreece.com) was a helpful source of what was and more importantly what was not included in their product. I felt reassured by what was NOT in the wipes and by the information on their site.

The wipe itself had a pleasant (almost cucumber like) 'fresh' smell to it and certainly was not at all the chemical type smell that lots of brands have. The wipes themselves were soft but good strong quality and were not too wet. They pulled out of the packet easily and there were few occasions when 2 wipes came out at once - I was grateful for this as when wipes get stuck together it is both a waste of money and awkward to get the wipes separated 'mid nappy change' Jackson Reece wipes were certainly challenging my usual baby wipes for first choice! They were able to cope with all types of nappy contents and I did not have to use any more sheets than my usual brand. The strength of the sheet was more than enough to deal with pooey nappies.

Our first Jackson Reece nappy change.

Easy does it....

As there were 72 wipes in the packet they were the same quantity as standard wipe packets as is the size of the sheet itself. Having now finished the packet I can easily say that I will definitely be using the wipes again, although as this product is not widely available in all retail stores this will be an online order.  I have found the wipes online through web searches and on the Mothercare website (This was the cheapest place to buy from I found). In relation to my normal brand of wipes the Jackson Reece wipes are £0.98p cheaper per 72 wipes ( but the cost of online delivery would have to be taken into account).

My only criticism is that the lift up plastic opening tab did fall off before I had finished the wipes, but this was able to be stuck back down and did not let the wipes dry out. My suggestion would be to add a small piece of sellotape or similar on the 'hinge' part of the lid to stop this happening.

All in all they will now be my first choice of wipes for my baby and an online order is on it's way Mothercare!!!....
