In no particular order
Dido - Hunter
This song became the song that summed up a period in my life when I accepted that my first marriage was at an end and I had to start finding a solo me again. I had been married since I was 18 and had spent my entire adult life to that point as 1 half of a relationship. I had at that point forgotton who 'I' was. This song made me smile and feel optimistic when that was the last way I felt inside - it gave me hope and strength to be myself again after 11 years of being married. It still invigorates me to hear it.
Terence Trent D'arby - Sign your Name
I have fond memories of this catchy 80's tune. I was 14 in the year of it's 1987 release and I remember it coming on the radio and my Mum saying to me, that song will be a huge hit and he will be a star! The song was massive and he did have a short lived chart career but it is my Mum saying about it that sticks in my head. My Mum sadly died in 1992, just 5 years later when I was 19 and I wish I had had more trivial yet so important memories to share with my children about her.
Rick Astley - Never Gonna Give you Up
This song has been chosen for exactly the same reason as the previous one. Who doesn't remember that sideways wiggle dance that went with this ditty?! Go Rick!
Muse - Stockholm Syndrome
Much to my childrens amusement, but gladly to the oldest child's approval I am a self-confessed rock fan. The older I get the 'heavier' my tastes. The current cd in the car is System of a Down and a couple by Linkin Park. My all time, keep coming back to, favourites are Muse. This song in particular I could play over and over - the guitar intro is a pure art form in my eyes and I take my hat off to any musician that can play like that. I took my eldest son to his first concert (and also my husbands first as well) at Wembley to see Muse live and the video is from that concert - happy times!
Roachford - Cuddly Toy
My first ever concert was when I was 15 and I went to see Roachford - It was at the Brixton Academy and I loved the live atmosphere. So started a love of concerts and I have seem a wide range of bands in the years since that first one. Can you remember this one??
These songs tip the surface of my life. I thought this was going to be a hard meme to do but I have loved reminiscing - thanks for the tags passing them onwards.... x
