It is designed to develop with your baby and the weaning process. The cutlery tips are soft on the gums for those smaller babies and the 'handles' are round in shape so they can be easily held by smaller hands to encourage self-feeding. The other design feature is that when dropped the spoon and fork stay upright as the rounded handle is weighted. This helps to minimise contact with unhygienic surfaces. However be warned that if the spoon or fork has baby food on it (especially puree) it will tend to flip the puree off as it rights itself - not the end of the world as this would happen with traditional cutlery but just a warning.
Both the fork and the spoon come with a plastic cover for the top to again ensure it is kept as hygienically as possible when not being used.
The stay warm plate is a generous size with two 'sections' to the plate so great for serving two types of tastes. The bowl stays warm by simply adding hot water to the base through the capped hole into a chamber.

This then keeps the food warm from underneath. This is helpful when children are learning to feed themselves as it allows them to eat warmer food even when it takes them a while to feed themselves.The plate is very stable and didn't tip or flip when we used it. It also has a rubbery base to it to help stability especially when being used by the child themselves.
This was a nice set, especially for use at home but takes up more space than some brands for when on the go. Think it is a great idea for use when camping also. The cutlery was a little too big for Tala's hands but he is too little to feed himself so will be a winner in a few months for us. Will definitely use again when Tala is a little bigger.
