Movie meme - Week 10 (Horror)

I am amazed that Hannah at Metal Mummy has managed to leave the genre of horror til week 10 knowing what a fan she is.... Horror is also my favourite but when I saw the theme my mind was racing.....

Horror is a wide ranging genre from the 'slasher' movies to scary, edge of your seat movies, tongue in cheek horrors and then the downright can't stop thinking about it and played with my mind horror.  I have decided to go with a film I go back and watch over and over and never tire of it tongue in cheek humour with zombies galore... Shaun of the Dead.

Love it a 'romzom'!!

To start with this Simon Pegg classic is filled with fantastic British actors such as Nick Frost, Bill Nighy, Matt Lucas... the list is long.  It is a micky take of Dawn of the Dead but I actually prefer this version.  

Fantastic British line up...

The plot of the film is this. Shaun (Simon Pegg) decides to turn his monotinus life around by winning back his ex-girlfriend, reconciling his relationship with his mother, and dealing with an entire zombie community that has returned from the dead to eat the living - in a nutshell. The one-liners in this film are non-stop and I am in stiches even after having watched it more times than I can remember and one scene sticks out in my mind where they encounter the zombies for the first time in their garden and decide to attack them with LP's. Goes something like this....

[looking through Shaun's LPs for suitable records to throw at two approaching zombies]
ED: 'Purple Rain'?
Shaun: No.
Ed: 'Sign o' the Times'?
Shaun: Definitely not.
Ed: The 'Batman' soundtrack?
Shaun: Throw it.
Ed: 'Dire Straits'?
Shaun: Throw it.
Ed: Ooh, 'Stone Roses'.
Shaun: Um, No.
Ed: 'Second Coming'.

Shaun: I like it!
Ed: Ahhh! 'Sade'.
Shaun: Yeah, but that's Liz's!
Ed: Yeah, but she did dump you.
Shaun: Oh! 

I am struggling to sum up everything I love about this film so I would have to just say go buy it - don't rent it or wait for TV Buy it! You will love it!
