A trip to Marbury Merry Days

I have lived in Shropshire for 11 years now and have never actually been to the Marbury Merry Days.

The event is a two day traditional country fair that takes place annually in the village and the proceeds go towards the upkeep and maintenance of the beautiful St Michaels Parish Church situated in the centre of the village. This years event represents the 32nd Merry Days get together.

We went along as a family to see what was on offer.  I was impressed by the selection and variety of entertainment there ranging from demonstrations from a 'Romans Living History Village' complete with Roman gladiators in full regalia and a kids army where the younger children got to even join in the Roman fun. There were also displays including one by a model aircraft flying display team and a classic car and motorcycle parade.

On the stall front there were all the traditional tombola's, raffles and cake stalls and the kids flitted happily between them all - my purse was soon much lighter!

Pre-teen tried her luck on the coconut shy:
Ready......

throw!
There were plenty of people milling about and the weather was promising until the heavens opened about 4pm when we all took refuge in the tea tent! The rain soon retreated and everyone headed back out side to carry on. Kids enjoyed it and I am sure lots was raised on the 2 days.
Lots of see and do.
Tala enjoyed the puppet show and we were even the winners of a lovely knitted toy in the raffle. I am sure we will watch out for it again next year.
