Review - Peter Rabbit Organic drinks

Tala and 'pre-teen' have again been testing and reviewing for me - thanks kids!

This time up was Peter Rabbit Organic juice drinks - a range of ready to drink juices that are suitable from 6 months.  The 150ml 'Little Quenchers' packs (from 6 months) come in three flavours, Apple & Grape, Blackcurrant & Apple and Pear Juice.

Our selection of  Peter Rabbit drinks to try.
The larger 250ml - shown at the top of the photo above - are aimed at children aged 2-5 years and again come in 3 flavours, Orange & Mango, Pressed Apple and Summer Berries.  There is also a larger bottle at 750ml in Apple just for reference.

Tala tried the 150ml sized Blackcurrant & Apple juice.  Our first challenge was this....

Extendable drinking straws attached to cartons.
At 8 months, Tala is completely unable to drink from anything except a bottle. He will give a baby cup a good try but more comes out on him than he drinks normally.  As the info that came with the drinks stated it was easy to use, no mess, no cup just throw in the buggy type product and go, this was not the case for us sadly.  We did cut open (not something you can do on the go mind as packet would not tear open) and put in his bottle.

Easier in a bottle Mum!
This was the first time Tala had drunk anything other than water and it certainly seemed to go down well with him.  I did try the drink myself, as did 'Pre-teen' and the flavour was very gentle - water is the first ingredient followed by concentrated juice. A thumbs up from him I feel in relation to the actual flavour. He also enjoyed the Apple & Grape flavour but was not keen on the Pear juice.

Now for the 'older' juice. 'Pre-teen' is older than the age group the product is aimed at but that doesn't mean she tastes things any differently! The Pressed Apple was her taste test.  In her opinion it was too watery and she would opt for something less diluted but as it is aimed at a younger age group I think the 50% water 50% juice dilution is about right and I would look at these products rather than stronger, less dilute drinks when Tala is bigger.

Pressed Apple flavour (250ml)
As a parent I liked the design of the product in a visual way.  The straw was a huge hurdle as I have mentioned and the product would not be as useful on the go with this design at the youngest age.  The flavour was subtle which I liked but I did not like the fact it was made from concentrated juice and would like to have seen actual fruit juice in the product as I do not buy concentrated juice at all. I love the fact there is no added sugar.

I saw, this week, the smaller 150ml carton in Asda for 52p which is not a bad price in my opinion.  It was 55p and 56p (variety based) in Sainsbury.  I have not seen the larger carton or the store at home pack in shops yet so cannot offer a average price for these.
