REVIEW - Dr Browns Deluxe Bottle Warmer

As a Dr Browns bottle user I was intrigued by the Deluxe Bottle Warmer so I contacted them to see if I could give it a whirl and review it.

Dr Brown's bottles are a range of fully vented, vacuum free baby bottles that help minimise colic.  After breastfeeding my older children I moved to the range after my daughter experienced very bad colic.  They were the first choice of bottles when buying for Tala as I had had such a positive experience with them.

The Deluxe Bottle Warmer was so easy to put together when unpacked, simply click on the hinged lid and fill the removable water reservoir from the tap and snap into place as per the included instructions.  The reservoir automatically fills the heating chamber inside the warmer to the correct level and the really great thing is that it does not need filling every time you use it, just top it up when it is running low on water.  The top of the reservoir is a little on the small side so don't turn the tap on too much!

You don't have to have Dr Browns bottles to use it either as it is compatible with most major bottle brands.

I was intrigued by the Deluxe Bottle Warmer
Once the lid was in place and water in the reservoir the warmer was ready to go.  The whole process had taken less than 3 minutes.  I was very impressed to see in the instructions that you could heat ambient bottles, or bottles from the fridge or even the freezer - all by varying the warming times. The bottles are steam heated.

Ready to use in less than 3 minutes.
Contained within the instruction manual was a handy warming chart that covered a huge range of bottle sizes from 60ml to 250ml in not only plastic but also in glass and gave a list of suggested heating times for both standard and wide necked feeding bottles.  The chart was also on the back of the warmer itself which I found really helpful as it meant it was always available as I have a tendency to put manuals 'in a safe place' and then not be able to locate them again.

Not need to worry about lost manuals...
To use the warmer just open the lid and put in the bottle and turn on.  The timing can be adjusted by using the up and down arrow keys and when correct just click the 'forward arrow' and the digital display will light up and then the counter will start to count down.

Just 4 buttons and a very easy to read display,
I heated bottles from room temperature and bottles from the fridge.  I found the guide made them a little warm compared to how I would normally give them to Tala but as stated it is only a starting point and you may want to adjust the timings according to your own preference.  Always test the temperature of the feed before giving to your baby.

Inside the appliance is a plastic 'basket' that means it can easily be used to heat baby food jars as well.  Just lift out the basket and place the jar inside and lower down.  Remove jars the same way to avoid burning your fingers.  The Dr Brown Deluxe Bottle Warmer can even sterilise a dummy - very versatile!

I was impressed that I could heat a room temperature bottle in about 2 1/2 minutes - less time than it took to boil the kettle and the versatility of being to heat refrigerated and frozen bottles as well.  The appliance was easy to clean and should be descaled every 4 weeks.

The Dr Brown Deluxe Bottle Warmer costs £44.00 (less any relevant P&P charges)

I have one Deluxe Bottle Warmer to be won on my blog shortly.......details to be announced.
