Nappy company? Fancy a challenge?

Tala is 10 months old today and is far less mobile than his peers and I wonder if it could be what's behind him....


When I went to Cybermummy, he was looked  after by my friend Wendy's lovely husband Ian.  As he was unfamiliar with washable nappies and knowing how tricky they can be when you first start to use them we opted for disposables for Tala that day.  Even before I left the house to go he was sitting unaided much better that he had ever done before and certainly was not tipping over to the side as he normally would.

When I compared the size of the disposable nappy to Tala's washable one the difference was considerable - the washable was so bulky in comparision and I started to think that perhaps if he could actually feel his bottom against a surface he may just learn to sit on it!  Since that day I have been torn between disposables and washables.

He has been wearing disposables but it is not something I am overly happy about and I will NEVER buy certain brands of nappies (mentioning no names but they are market leaders).  I shudder at the thought of chlorine bleach, chemicals and such like in the more common brands but the washable option is now less of an option as I can see the difference to his movement when he is in them.  I am caught in the great disposables v's washables debate and I never thought I would be.

My ethics say washables....

So I offer a challenge to nappy companies.  I would like a nappy that is environmentaly friendly as possible, without harsh chemicals and ideally organic, absorbant and practical but is not bulky and will not hinder Tala's movement and gives him room to maneovure without a bulk behind!  Is there such a nappy? Do you know of such a nappy? Do you want to put it to the test?  I would be very interested to hear from you as I am in need of direction and so torn between the disposable/washable options.  I am happy to try washables or disposables if you fit the above criteria......
