Recycling with a twist - Make do....

In our house we are BIG recyclers.  Cardboard, scraps, bottles, glass, paper even the inside tubes from the toilet roll - you name it we recycle it.

So when I was contacted by Makedo about their reusable connector system that allows you to make and design your own creation using your items to be recycled I was interested to see the product for myself.

We were sent the Makedo Find and Make Robot which is aimed at children 5+ years.  In the box are your connectors and a leaflet with design ideas.  Also included are sheets of stickers for adding the finishing touches to your new creation.

As we had the usual empty cereal boxes, cartons and bottles all ready for the green bin we had plenty of recycling to start creating with.  Middle Son loved the idea of a robot and with Half Term in full swing he set about his design with gusto.

He spent ages cutting, folding, shaping and designing his new robot using the design instructions as a guide.  The connectors were very easy for him to use and were a good size so those at the youngest end of the 5+ scale would not find them too fiddly.

As you are using items that some people may throw away as surplus to requirements the cost of the materials is nothing and also means that it can be pulled apart, reused, recycled or started all over again with another design  The possibilities are endless.

I like the idea of using your recycling and perhaps it will also encourage those who don't already recycle to save them for their Makedo creations. They also are Environmentally Responsible and the only product used in the connectors is Nylon 6,6
