And now for something completely different!

I love unusual and some may say even slightly veering towards the mainstream Gothic clothes for children.

Although you can see nowadays rows and rows of clothes with skulls on that seems to be as far as the retailers dare go on the high street for whatever reason.

When I was pregnant with Tala I spent many an hour researching unusual clothes, blankets and gifts for babies for those that are tired of the only choice in many leading retailers being pink & blue with the daring hint of cream or perhaps brown thrown in!

So here are some more unusual items I have come across on my searches (and through Twitter). With Halloween nearly here I am in my element in the shops as I can choose items with bats, vampires, crows and all manner of ghoulish paraphernalia that Tala can wear during the rest of the year - Thanks goodness for Halloween and the following companies who are thinking outside the pink and blue box!

Hand Knit Baby Wear

Although this independent retailer has a range to suit all tastes with items such as traditional hand knitted shawls, blankets and sleeping bags to totally unique genuine Japanese Sleepsuits the range is designed to fit from early babies to toddlers and each item is, as the company name suggests, hand knitted.

Genuine Japanese collection
Nesting amongst the knitted delights is a small but gorgeous range referred to as Goth, Alternative, Unusual and this is where my heart did a small jump.  The colour scheme is a mix of black, orange, green and purples with bats and skulls in evidence - perfect!

Hooded jumper with Bat Pattern
I was kindly sent the Hooded jacket in black, lovingly emblazoned with a skull and crossbones pattern on each side of the buttons.  It is beautifully knitted and very well made in an easy to wash acrylic - great for Tala who can be a little 'messy' with his meals.  It is a design that is exclusive to Hand Knit Baby Wear and so you wont find every other baby you pass in a pushchair wearing the same.... yah!

Here it is in the Hand Knit Baby Wear online shop and at £20 (less any relevant P & P charges) it is an excellent price as well.

Tala in my opinion looked so cute in it.....

So for anything knitted and designed for babies through toddlers try Hand Knit Baby Wear and rest assured each item is just as it says, hand knitted and unique, and the website is updated to reflect stock levels because of this.

Dirty Fingers

Has a different type of item altogether but just as unusual.  They carry a range of original clothing for babies and children which they design, manufacture and retail themselves and covers right through to age 11 years.

They also ensure the clothing is ethically made and I can tell you that the vast range of designs had me spoilt for choice and in fits of laughter!

How about this, very fashionable at the moment...

Or this again very of the moment....

As I like bats, monsters and all that I was torn on the Halloween range available  but in the end decided on this little number....

The printed slogan was well illustrated and the black did not fade when the garment was stretched.  I choose a 18 - 24 months size and I think it was a good fit (being a little big on Tala currently)  I loved the design and with Halloween just next week it is perfect for your little devils.

Tala happily modelled it for me....

Each piece has a unique fingerprint brand mark.
No two items will ever be the same
So with t-shirts, bodysuits, long sleeved t-shirts as well as hoodies, fleeces and romper suits all in the Dirty Fingers range there really will be something for every child - each unique and also with the ability to be posted both nationwide and even worldwide, they would make great gifts for any occasion with the Christmas selection on line now.

So if you need something special try Dirty Fingers...You can also follow the Dirty Fingers fanpage on Facebook
